FUJIN
The God of Wind. Fujin joins Raiden as one of the last surviving Gods
of Earth. Their counterparts were defeated in a war of the heavens between
Shinnok's forces and the Elder Gods. He now prepares for the final battle
between the forces of light and Shinnok's hell spawned warriors of darkness.
Fujin is a powerful player.
His moves are very quick and cause high amounts of damage. Learn how to
use the Slam move and combine this with the Levitate move. The Super Knee
move is lightening fast and can open up the opponent for some good combos.
The Air Dive Kick can be used well when you are on the defensive and when
you are on the offensive. Using the Whirlwind move can keep your opponent
away from you and it can cause a good amount of damage. Fujin's weapon,
the Cross Bow, is very effective when you fire it at the top of the screen
and watch it bounce along to your opponent. Learn the range of it and then
jugde the position of where your opponent is before you fire it.

JOHNNY CAGE
After Shao Kahn's defeat, Cage's soul is free to leave to a higher
place. From the heavens, he observes his friends once again engaged in
battle. When he learns of the war waged against the Elder Gods by Shinnok,
Cage seeks out Raiden to help him restore his deceased soul and join Liu
Kang in his quest.
Johnny Cage is an excellent
player to use. Keep charging at your opponent when performing big hit combos.
This gives the opponent less time to counter your moves. The Shadow Kick
is very useful when trying to use this tactic. It has a very long range
and it very powerful so try to use it as much as possible. Cage has a Low
and a High Fireball move so use these randomly to keep your opponent guessing.
The Uppercut is a strong move to use and this can act as a good opener
along with the Crotch Punch. He has some of the most powerful moves in
the game and when put together can provide excellent offensive breaks.

TANYA
As the daughter of Edenia's ambassador to new relms, Tanya invites
a group of refugees fleeing their own world into the safety of Edenia.
But soon after Queen Sindel allows them through the portal, she learns
that onr of the warriors is none other than the banished Elder God, Shinnok.
The portal leads into the pits of the Netherealm itself, and the once free
realm of Edenia is now at the mercy of Shinnok.
Tanya is a very fast character
and quite simple to use. She combines fast actions with strong long range
attacks that leave the opponent open for maximunm damage combos. Use the
Rolling Drill Kick as much as possible to open up your opponent. Try to
get the Straight Fireball move in at the end of every combo for greater
effect. The Downward Air Fireball can be used as a great defensive move.
Jumping back from an opponents attack and then using this move can turn
the game around. The Rolling Splits Kick is an excellent linker move that
can keep your combos going. Make sure that you keep charging your opponent
and do not allow them to get their feet back. One of Tanya's greatest features
is her speed. She can link moves together very quickly making it hard for
your opponent to get back into the game.

REPTILE
A general in Shinnok's army, Reptile once belonged to an extinct race
of reptillian creatures. He was banished to the Netherealm for commiting
genocide against several species. Responsible for the death of millions,
Reptile is a dangerous ally to the forces of evil.
Reptile has a lot of fast
moves making combos easy to achieve. Try using the Super Krawl as much
as possible as an opener and try following it up with big hit combos. The
Dashing Low Punch is good at opening up your opponent for bigger things.
Make sure that you charge at them when they are on the ground. You can
use the Acid Bubbles move anywhere on the screen as it does not have a
limit on range. A very good move to keep your opponent away from you. Reptile
is the only character to have an Invisibility move. This is a big advantage
as your opponent cannot see you or what you are doing. But you have to
remember that you don't see what you are doing either. Make sure that you
know what you are going to do before using this move. It is a great move
to have when you use it right.

SCORPION
In hopes of gaining Scorpion as a new ally in the war with the Elder
Gods, Quan Chi makes the dead Ninja an offer he cannot refuse - Life, in
exchange for his services as a warrior against the Elders. Scorpion accepts,
but hides ulterior motives.
Scorpion is one of the most
used characters in the game. His Spear move is still an excellent form
of attacking. This can be used as an excellent opener for combos. Using
the Teleport Punch can easliy confuse your opponent and keep them guessing
as to what you are going to next. So try using this as much as possible.
Scorpion also has the Air Throw move that can be very useful when countering
opponents attacks from the air. The Long Sword has a good reach on it and
is quite powerful. Try to pull it out when your opponent is away from you.
When using the Flame Breath move make sure that you are quite close to
the opponent as the reach on this move is not very far. Using this move
when you are out of reach will only leave you open for your opponent to
attack you.

LIU KANG
Liu Kang finds himself venturing into the realm of Edenia to rescue
the Princess Kitana from the vile clutches of Quin Chi. Unsuccessful in
his mission, Liu returns to Earth and mounts an effort to bring together
Earth's greatest warriors.
Liu Kang is still the immortal
champion of Mortal Kombat. He has a good selection of powerful moves that
can be tied together to produce great combos. He has a choice of Low or
High Fireball moves that will keep your opponent guessing. The Bicycle
Kick and Flying Kick are very powerful moves so try to get as many in as
possible and follow them up with big combos. Once you have knocked your
opponent on to the floor try to get a Throw or Bonebreaker move in as soon
as they start to get up off the floor. And then try to follow that up with
the Flying Kick or Bicycle Kick. Liu Kang is the only character that can
use his weapon to perform a Maximum Damage move without nedding to combine
it with other moves. He is one of the strongest players in the game.

After Shao Kahn's defeat at the hands of Earth's fighters, Sub-Zero's
warrior clan known as the Lin Kuei is dispanded. But with the new threat
brought on by Quan Chi, the Ice Warrior once again dons the familliar costume
once worn by his brother the original Sub-Zero.
Sub-Zero can prove to be a
strong character once all his moves are mastered and effectively put together.
The Ice Blast is still an excellent move that puts a stop to anything your
opponent is trying to do. Use this move as an opener to perform your best
attack. Sub-Zero can also freeze your opponent using his Ice Scepter. Be
careful not to hit your opponent twice with this or the Ice Blast move
as this will freeze you instead. The Slide move can be very effective for
getting your opponent on to the floor. Charge straight at your opponent
as soon as they hit the floor and try to get some big combos in. Sub-Zero
is a very powerful character to choose or play against. Another immortal
character of the Mortal Kombat games.

JAX
When Sonya disappears while tracking the last living member of the
Black Dragon, Major Jackson Briggs heads after her. He soon finds that
Sonya's mission has led her into a battle with the forces of an evil Elder
God. This is a battle they must win or their own world will crumble at
the hands of Shinnok.
Jax is not the most powerful
character in the game at all. But he does have some good moves to offer.
Once you have got the timing of his moves down he can become much more
useful. His moves can be linked together to provide some good combos. The
Ground Punch is a good way to open your opponent up for higher damage.
Charge straight towards your opponent as soon as you can. The Dash Punch
can also be used in the same way. Try to get the Fireball move in at the
end of every big combo for Maximum Damage. Jax can hit hard with the Spiked
Klub but try to pull it out when your opponent is far away from you or
after you have knocked him down. He's also a good Tennis Player!

Once a general in Shinnok's armies, Reiko lead the forces of darkness
into the battle against the Elder Gods. Once thought killed during that
onslaught, he resurfaces and joins the battle against Earth's forces.
Reiko has some very good moves
like the Teleport Slam. It can be used anywhere in the screen and whenever
you want. Use the Teleport Slam and then quickly follow it up with the
Ninja Stars move for fast results. The Teleport Slam can also be used to
counter anything that your opponent is trying to do. If you see them starting
to jump in the air quickly use the move to bring them back to Earth. Trying
to use his special moves all the time proves that he can be a strong character.

Sonya has become a member of Earth's own Outworld Investigation Agency.
Her first mission leads her to join Liu Kang on his quest to aid the troubled
thunder God, Raiden. She must survive long enough to warn her government
of the new menace brought on by Quan Chi.
Sonya is one of the strongest
fighters in the game. She combines long range moves with close grappling
moves to produce some of the games most impressive combos. Sonya also has
the advantage of being able to use the Air Throw move. This is excellent
when countering opponents moves from the air. Try to get the Fireball move
in as often as possible to keep your opponent as far from you as possible.
This move can interupt your opponents strategy and force them in silly
little mistakes which you can use to your advantage. To be effective at
the game you need to know what your going to before you do it. You won't
have time to think what your going to do next because your opponent is
already coming towards you.

RAIDEN
The God of Thunder returns to Earth after the defeat of Shao Kahn but
finds a new threat when Shinnok's forces, led by Quan Chi's attack of the
Elder Gods. With the heavens in disarray, Raiden exists as one of the last
Gods of Earth. He must come to the aid of his Elders and put an end to
the villainous reign of his avcient enemy.
Raiden is the biggest character
in the game. The good guy that everyone likes to play as. He will always
save the day. His Teleport move is excellent when keeping the opponent
close to perform high scoring combos. When your opponent uses an air attack
you can easily cancell this by using the Torpedo move. Try to get straight
back in with combos while your opponent is recovering. When performing
combos always try to get in the Spark shot in right at the end as this
often makes the difference between a high hit combo or a Maximum Damage
combo. Once you know all his moves and can perform then on call Raiden
can be one of the most powerful characters in the game.

from the great masters throughout Asia. He journeyed to the Far East after
meeting his friend and ally Liu Kang in America. Now they reunite to assist
Raiden in his battle with Shinnok.
Kai has a many moves that
you will have to learn and master if you are going to be successful with
him. The Rising and Falling Fireball moves can be used to bring damage
to your opponent when you are anywhere in the screen. Using the Rising
Fireball move brings your opponent closer to you and acting as an opener
for high scoring combos. Make sure that you position yourself where your
opponent is going to land and be ready to make your best move.

QUAN CHI
A free roaming sorcerer powerful in the black arts, Quan Chi uses his
abilities to free the now evil Elder God Shinnok from his confines in the
netherealm. In exchange for his services Shinnok has granted Quan Chi the
position of arch-sorcerer of his now expanded Netheraelm.
Quan Chi is one of the Bad
Boys of the game. He has some powerful and very fast moves that come in
very handy when your playing as him. When facing him watch how he links
moves together. He can be very fast indeed. Quan Chi has the big advantage
of being able to steal weapons from opponents. So make sure that if you
pull your weapon out on him you make it count. The Tele-Stomp is also an
excellent move. It is very fast and almost unstoppable. You have to keep
a very close eye on him and always be ready to move out of the way as soon
as possible. Chi is one of the best characters in the game once his moves
have been mastered.

JAREK
Believed to be the last member of Kano's Klan, the Black Dragon, Jarek
is hunted down by Special Forces agent Sonya Blade for crimes against humanity.
With the emergence of a much greater evil, Sonya focuses her strengths
on the new menacing Quan Chi. Jarek now finds himself fighting alongside
Sonya and Earth's warriors to help defeat the Evil Elder God, Shinnok.
Jarek can prove to be an excellent
fighter. Try and get the Ground Shaker in after all combos to produce a
higher damage rate. The Cannonball Roll can be used as an excellent opening
attack for combos. Make sure that you get back in quickly after you bounce
off your opponent. Using a combination of basic moves and special moves
provides many different ways of defeating your opponent. All Jarek's moves
can all be linked together to produce strong attacks.

INTERACTIVE BACKGROUNDS
Objects in the background can be picked up and thrown at your opponents
by pressing D + L1. The object will then be thrown straight towards your
opponent. It is possible to use the object as part of a combo. The timing
of this move is very hard as you have to be on the object while performing
a combo. You can also pick up dropped weapons that are yours or your opponents
by using the same method of D + L1. To release any weapon just use the
same action that you used to pull it out.
FIGHTING AGAINST GORO
The half human, half dragon stood as Shang Tsung's protector in the
first tournament. Goro took the Mortal Kombat title from the original Kung
Lao, only to have it won from him nine generations later by Lao's ancestor,
Liu Kang. Seeking revenge, the Shokan prince has returned from the Outworld
to crush Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat.
Goro is the hardest character
to beat in the game. He gets harder with every sequel that comes out. All
his moves take off massive amounts of energy so try not to let him get
a hold of you. Keep jumping around and wait for your opening. Goro's very
quick and very powerful so be aware of this. The best time to attack him
is when he starts to beat his chest. When he does this he leaves himself
completly open to your best attack. So make sure you are ready. Try using
low attacks like the Leg Sweep to knock him off his feet. Then follow in
with quick combos. Keep repeating this process and you should find him
easier to beat.
NOOB SAIBOT
Noob emerges from the Netherealm. He belongs to a group called the
Brothers of Shadow, and worships an evil and mysterious fallen Elder God.
His takes great interset in the events taking place in the Battle between
the Realms and report back to his enigmatic leaders.
PLAY AS NOOB SAIBOT
To play as Noob Saibot you must finish the game with Reiko, go into
2-player mode and enter 012-012 at the Versus screen. Quit the game and
choose Hidden at the Select screen, go up two and left one to choose Reiko.
You should play as Noob Saibot.
